Wil Shipley on Testing

Wil Shipley says “testing is teh suck” Amen to that. He also says that sloppy, buggy code is teh suckier than sucky testing. Double Amen to that. After just finishing The Pragmatic Programmer, reading Wil’s posting was refreshing. Some people riding the “Unit test everything!” mantra are unit testing things that are so simple, writing code to do it is a waste of time. However, I think it’s dangerous to just claim that unit testing is senseless and useless. Keep your eyes on the comments to that posting - there’s some excellent discussion going on.

The New .Mac and Backup 3.0

Every year around this time, I start thinking about cancelling my .mac account. But every year, Apple throws in just enough to keep me on. This year, they totally revamped the Backup application - and it’s GOOD. They also upped their disk space allotment. I especially like how Apple let’s you break up your 1 Gig between email and iDisk however you like. There’s already a few postings around the web about Backup…
