At the recent PhotoPlus Expo, I had a LOT of questions from attendees about color management hardware – what do I use? What does Apple recommend? Does Apple make color management or color calibration hardware? Are Apple’s display’s calibrated? How important is calibration? Can Aperture work with or without a calibrated monitor? And so on…
They were all good questions – and if you’re serious about using your computer for your entire photography workflow, and especially if you need to get photos from your computer out to print, then color management is essential. So it’s incredibly good timing that James Duncan Davidson’s latest blog post just showed up on O’Reilly’s Inside Aperture site. Go check it out.
(PS: The answers were: Nothing right now – but plan on trying some hardware soon; No official recommendation; No; Not out of the box; Important, but depends on your use; Yes.)
